Pat Blashill was born and raised in Austin, Texas. As a teenager, he began going to punk rock shows while he studied photojournalism at the University of Texas. In 1987, he moved to New York City, where he worked as a writer and photographer for Rolling Stone, The New York Times, Details, Wired, GQ and other publications. These days, he lives in Vienna with his wife and two daughters. In 2020, Bazillion Points published Texas Is The Reason, the first collection of his photographs and writing, and in 2025, University of Texas Press publish his Texas punk oral history, Someday All the Adults Will Die!
His exhibition includes photographs of The Big Boys, Butthole Surfers, Daniel Johnston, Ramones, Samhain, Offenders, The Dicks, Scratch Acid, Poison 13, Fang, The Replacements, Soul Asylum, Sonic Youth, Babes in Toyland,... as well as photographs of punks taken at shows, in the apartments, on the…
